It started on my 8th birthday when my brother gave me a diary with a key. He told me it didn’t matter that my handwriting was illegible, it was only for me to read. After that, I was always writing something, but only under lock and key.
Eventually, I learned to write legibly (typing helped) and allowed others to read and critique what I had written. After writing for teachers, peers, editors, audiences, and even the greeting card buying public, I discovered that writing for others is the main purpose of writing. Words have meaning. Words connect us.
If my writing always remains under lock and key, I am not connecting to the world around me. And what is the purpose of all these words if they aren’t being shared? If they aren’t being used to connect with others?
Sharing your words makes you a better writer which makes you a better communicator.

That’s my goal. To be a better communicator. A better connector.

This blog is a mix of all that.
